I do not accept insurance. However, I can provide a super bill that you can submit to your insurance company to access your out-of-network benefits.
-
One reason I do not accept insurance, is that insurance companies require that I share your diagnosis and treatment notes in order to receive payment. This becomes part of your permanent medical record which may have negative consequences related to your employment, or when you are seeking new medical insurance or life insurance.
Another reason that I do not take insurance, is because insurance companies require therapists to follow approved treatment methods and often limit the number of sessions that they cover.
These requirements may not always be in the best interest of the client.
By not accepting insurance, I can make sure that your therapeutic information remains confidential. I can also customize a treatment plan based on your individual needs and goals for therapy, instead of using a treatment plan dictated by insurance.
-
I accept cash, checks, credit cards, debit cards, flexible spending accounts, and health savings accounts. Please bring the exact amount if paying with cash.
-
There is no charge if you cancel or reschedule your appointment with at least 24 hours notice. You will be charged for the session if less than 24 hours notice is given.

Many people are intimidated by the thought of starting counseling. There can be a lot of fears about what to expect. I hope to make things as comfortable and relaxing for you as possible. During the first session, we will discuss your hopes for counseling and explore what is bringing you to counseling and what your goals are. Sessions are 55 minutes long. Because all paperwork will be completed online before the first session, you won’t have to fill out anything at the session. It can be helpful to write down any questions you have to bring into the first session.
Most people start by coming to therapy once a week or every other week. That is completely up to you and we will discuss frequency at your first appointment. The therapeutic relationship between you and your therapist is the heart of the healing process and I will work hard to build a relationship with you and make sure you feel comfortable, not only in the first session but throughout therapy. I want your experience with counseling to be a positive one.
